ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. expects full cooperation from members of the league of vice mayors and councilors in making this province more progressive.
“The unity and cooperation among local elected officials of Iloilo is indispensable if we want to see and insure the success of all our programs,” Defensor stressed.
“This is why I always expect them to be my real partners in continuing what I have started – a clean, transparent and people-centered governance,” he added.
The governor issued the statement following the induction of newly elected officers of the Vice Mayors League and Philippine Councilors League-Iloilo Chapter in his office on Tuesday.
This year’s set of officers for Vice Mayors League here is headed by Hon. Cesar Gonzales of Lambunao town.
He succeeded Hon. Paulino M. Parian of Janiuay now the president of Philippine Councilors League here and an ex-officio member of the 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Both Parian and Gonzales hailed from 3rd District where the son and namesake of the governor was re-elected congressman.
Other officers of Vice Mayors League are:
*Vice President – Vice Mayor Roel Jarina of Tigbuan,
*Secretary General – Vice Mayor Mark Palabrica of Bingawan,
*Treasurer – Vice Mayor Harnie Estebal of Batad,
*Auditor – Vice Mayor Rema Somo of Sta. Barbara, and
*Public Relations Officer – Vice Mayor Mary Ann Acejo of Balasan.
Sitting in their Board of Directors are:
*Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III,
*Oton Vice Mayor Jose Niel Olivares and Guimbal Vice Mayor Mary Ann Lujan (1st District),
*New Lucena Vice Mayor Nestor Sibolinao and Leganes Vice Mayor Joseph Allen Españo (2nd District),
*Pototan Vice Mayor Lito Ilisan and Janiuay Vice Mayor Joseph Anthony Luter (3rd District),
