BACOLOD CITY, May 6 (PNA) — Candidates of United Negros Alliance (UNA) is counting the support of 3rd District Rep. Albee Benitez’s relatives to earn a landslide victory in his district.
This is after UNA’s standard bearer and reelectionist Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and runningmate Melvin Ibanez held their campaign sorties in Victorias City over the weekend.
The two faced the crowd composed of 3,000 supporters gathered beside the Ceres Bus Terminal in Victorias City.
During his speech, Marañon thanked the crowd for their outpouring support to his reelection bid and renewed his appeal to voters not to sell their votes.
“Thank you for your all-out support. We will achieve overwhelming victory with your presence today,” Maranon said.
He also warned them of the circulation of counterfeit money in many parts of the province as confirmed by the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
Ibanez, on the other hand, was upbeat after being told that relatives and leaders of Benitez were among those in the crowd supporting their slate.
He then reiterated his legislative priorities in support of the Negros First Development Agenda.
He also laid down his plans on optimum healthcare, including the expansion on the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program.
Aside from the two UNA local bigwigs, also present during their campaign sorties were incumbent Victorias City Mayor Severo Palanca.
Former Mayor Edwin Velez of Silay City and councilor Joemarie Astorga of Talisay City, both eyeing seats in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, were also present.
After Victorias City, Maranon’s party went to Himamaylan City for another campaign sorties. (PNA)
