ILOILO – To understand how the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) works, the provincial government will launch its core services in the Grand Tower Suites on March 30.
The launching of PESO services will be attended by 134 participants (i.e. human resource representatives & top executives) from 130 companies based in local and overseas.
Representatives from Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Iloilo Hotels and Restaurant Association, including the presidents of barangay PESO coordinators from Barotac Nuevo, Igbaras, Leganes and Cabatuan, also confirmed their attendance.
Iloilo PESO Chief Francisco Heler Jr. said the launching aims to strengthen the coordination among private and government partners to effectively facilitate employment opportunities to unemployed yet skilled citizens in the province.
Government reforms to institutionalize and diversify the services of PESO in the municipal level will also be shared by select municipal mayors to encourage other local chief executives to emulate the practice.
These are Dumangas Mayor Ronaldo Golez and Tubungan Mayor Vicente Gargaritano Jr. who will speak on the municipal institutionalization of PESO, Cabatuan Mayor Ronilo Caspe on building and accessing local workforce database, Tigbuan Mayor Suzette Alquisada on job fairs and special recruitment activities and Maigao Mayor Macario Napulan on their job seeker assistance program.
The other topics to be discussed include the enhanced electronic manpower skills registry system (e-MSRS), the process of PESO job posting services and person with disability employment accommodation.
A consultative meeting on the proposed organization of human resource officers, formulation of complementary workforce development plan, inputs for the employment summit and conduct of capability development for placement officers will be held in the afternoon.
