ILOILO – Fifteen fishermen without permit to operate have been arrested in Concepcion and Carles, according to reports from the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force on March 23, 2017.
SPO1 Jose Ronnie Panes said the arrested fishermen paid compromise fines ranging from P2,500 to P5,000 each depending on the type of violation.
Panes said the fishermen were using round haul/siene, squid trawl and shrimp trawl when they were caught fishing within the municipal waters of both towns.
Having no permit and using active gears within 12 kilometers from the shoreline were in violation of the town’s respective fishery ordinances.
These fishermen were the following:

*M/BCA KEN-KEN – owned and operated by Merlyn Guiñez and piloted by Noli Guiñez
*M/BCA LONIN NING – owned and operated by Romy Pateño
*M/BCA NIELO LANCE – owned and operated by Ariel de la Cruz
*M/BCA BABY FEB – owned and operated by Jose Gomez and piloted by Benito Binoman
*M/BCA GIEZEL – owned and operated by Ricardo Gonzales
*M/BCA VERN ZIEN – owned and operated by Ronald Bacolinao
*M/BCA P L C.2 – owned and operated by LiLibeth Cañeso
*M/BCA TOTO JOHN-5 – owned and operated by Jose Gomez and piloted by Joar Perfecto
*M/BCA TOTO EDZEL – owned and operated by Liezel Arcosa and piloted by Francisco Mamadis
Upon paying the compromise fine, the fishermen were released from detention.
