ILOILO – Barangay Service Point Officer Mary Jane Macaraeg of Brgy Alupidian, Tigbauan and Provincial Population Officer 1 Jea Mae Alojado of Mina won this year’s Search for Best Managed Data Bank.
Macaraeg and Alojado received trophies and P9,500 cash prize from Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. during 2016 BSPO Congress held in Iloilo Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Macaraeg rejoiced upon hearing she won the first contest. She said her team was very happy that their efforts paid off and it coincidentally came as a surprise to her birthday.
During the evaluation, Macaraeg’s team reportedly carried on their backs their data management board while travelling from their remote village to meet the judges in their town proper.
The other winners in the barangay category were BSPOs Lilibeth Tantiado of Brgy. 3 Tigbauan (2nd Place), Marites Aspresto and Lourlyn Inventor of Brgy. Camiros, Anilao (3rd Place).
Brgy. 3, Tigbuan and Brgy Badiang, Anilao also won the special award for Best in Record Management and Data Board, respectively.
Alojado, on the other hand, dominated the search in the municipal level, defeating her fellow provincial population officers in nine municipalities.
PPO1 Chalea Cabayao of Dingle came in 2nd Place, while PPO1 Eireen Digcaboon settled for 3rd Place.
Provincial Population Officer Ramon Yee said the first Search for Best Managed Population Data Bank aims to encourage BSPOs and PPO1s to perform better in their duties.
Meanwhile, Defensor also led the unveiling of the new logo of the Provincial Population Office.
Yee explained that the new logo illustrate the vision of the province and the national government for “happier and empowered Ilonggo families”. (END)
