ILOILO – The rehabilitation of 10-kilometer farm-to-market road from Poblacion to Brgy. Tacuyong Norte in Leon will soon commence following the issuance of second letter of no objection (NOL 2) from Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).
Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala will turnover today (March 2) the NOL 2, which signals the approval of P117-million road rehab, to Governor Arthur D. Defensor Sr.
The ceremony will be held along with the Farmers-Fisherfolk and Agriculture Extension Workers’ Forum at Rose Memorial Hall in Central Philippine University.
NOL 2 is prerequisite to awarding of contract to International Builders Corp., an Iloilo-based construction firm who got the project with its P114.8-million bid.
The PRDP project is expected to improve, not only the accessibility of remote barangays, but most especially the mobility of agricultural products from the area.
Defensor said paving the dirt road will mean a lot to the residents. According to Provincial Planning Officer Mila Dellomo, the project will be beneficial to 14,290 residents, wherein 8,083 were females.
The rehabilitation of road will last for 300 calendar days inclusive of 50 unworkable days. ##
