ILOILO — People with different neuromusculoskeletal impairments are among the potential beneficiaries of the upcoming donation from Latter-Day Saints Charities-Philippines (LDSC) here.
The non-profit organization that conducts charitable and humanitarian activities out of compassion will donate 600 wheelchairs of various types and sizes to Iloilo through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWDO).
An additional 300 assistive devices of various types and sizes will also be given to improve the mobility, health, educational and economic opportunities of Ilonggos with physical disabilities.
This developed after PSWDO Chief Neneth Pador and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, representing Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., entered into an agreement with LDSC Country Director Benson Misalucha in Pasig City recently.
With LDSC assessors, PSWDO will identify, assess and fit each recipient to the wheelchair. The beneficiaries, together with their family members or caregivers, will also be trained on how to use and take care of their wheelchairs.
Last 2013, LDSC also gave out food and hygiene kits as part of their emergency relief assistance to the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda in selected coastal towns in northern Iloilo.
