ILOILO – Public schools that have been destroyed by typhoons in the past could continue the reconstruction, repair and improvement of their facilities with P12.3-million budget released on Monday.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. released the fund in check to repair 45 elementary schools (P7.2-million) and seven secondary schools (P1.4-million) in five congressional districts here.
Of the total budget, P2.2 million will be used to complete the school buildings of nine other elementary schools and P1.2-million for the construction of school facilities like comfort rooms, stage, fences, multi-purpose halls, slope protection and canopy.
The remaining P150,000, on the other hand, will be for the procurement of books, instructional materials, equipment, school chairs and computers.
These projects in 65 elementary schools and 10 high schools are undertaken under the Provincial School Board wherein the governor sits as the chairman.
