ILOILO – The kin of the casualties of Super Typhoon Yolanda received a total of P870,000 aid from the provincial government in a turn-over ceremony held here.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Vice Governor Raul Tupas with the assistance of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Executive Director Jerry Bionat and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Chief Neneth Pador led the distribution.
Both Defensor and Tupas assured the families of the casualties that they would do their best to respond to their needs, especially in lobbying for more aid to help them back on their feet.
They also asked the beneficiaries to use the P10,000 cash grant in putting up a small business or for the education of the casualties’ children.
The province has registered a total of 117 casualties due to the super typhoon. But so far, only the families of 87 casualties got their aid. Others have yet to comply in the requirements set by PSWDO.
These 87 beneficiaries came from Carles, Dingle, Sara, Balasan, Ajuy, Lemery, Calinog, Tigbuan, Dueñas, and Batad.#2014News
