ILOILO – Poor patients coming from Passi City will no longer worry of their hospital bills in case they will be admitted in three province-run hospitals near the city.
This is due to a new agreement between City Mayor Jesry T. Palmares and Governor Arthur D. Defensor Sr. that maximizes the use of medical assistance fund.
Palmares and Defensor signed the memorandum of agreement on Monday before Vice Governor Raul C. Tupas and Passi City Legal Officer Atty. Marven Daquilanea.
The hospitals involved are Don Valerio Palmares Memorial District Hospital in Passi City, Don Ricardo Provido, Sr. Memorial Hospital in Lambunao and Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town.
A total of P600,000 has been deposited in the three hospitals as financial assistance to indigent patients under the Passi City Health Care Assistance Program.
To claim the assistance, indigent patients have to secure a certificate of endorsement or referral letter from the Office of the City Mayor of Passi City.
The assistance to indigent in-patients, out-patients, and patients needing emergency care will include medicines, laboratory tests, ECG, X-ray, surgery, among others.
To those who are enrolled in Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, they should first exhaust their benefits and any excess may be charged to the program.
Using this policy, both parties can optimize the use of the fund and avoid duplication of benefits under the nationally funded PhilHealth. #2014News
