ILOILO – Fifteen fishermen from Victorias City, Negros Occidental were arrested here recently while the rehabilitation and relief operations were ongoing in typhoon-hit towns in Northern Iloilo.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias reported that these erring fishermen were caught using trawl fishing within the municipal waters of Concepcion on November 28, based on the report of Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force.
The report further disclosed that the illegal fishermen were onboard five motorbancas namely “Dodot, Jessa 1, 2, 3, and 4”. The boat captains arrested were identified as Reylan de Julian, Ubing Monteza, Danny Bacus, Ronilo Roa and Warren Amadela.
The owners of the motorbancas, on the other hand, were later identified as Diosa de la Paz and Dodot Relen, both from Victorias City.
The arrested fishermen were currently detained at the lock-up cell of Concepcion Municipal Police Office and their seized fishing nets and gears were at the custody of the task force. (Jezza A. Nepomoceno/Capitol News)
