ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has approved on Friday the release of P45,000 financial assistance for the victims of twister in Barangay Mambiranan Pequeño, Passi City.
The twister that hit the village on April 27, 2013 left nine families homeless.
These include the families of Renante Oncino, Juvy Calibar, Gilbert Calibar Sr., Damaso Boglosa, Maximino Molato, Jonel Apura, Jason Abale, Zienner Pelaez and Nelito Padura.
Defensor, through Executive Order 085, directed the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office to grant P5,000 to each of the family affected.
The funds are charged against the governor’s appropriation for aid to individuals in crisis situation amounting to P10-million.
Meanwhile, another twister hit the province at 6:20 pm on Thursday, according to a report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
PDRRMO Chief Jerry Bionat said the incident destroyed five classrooms in Sara National High School in Barangay Alibayog, Sara town.
The school’s canteen, stockroom, remedial room and student council quarter were also damaged.
