Operation of Dumangas hospital uninterrupted despite fire

ILOILO CITY, July 4 (PNA) — The operation of Dumangas District Hospital in Dumangas town, Iloilo continues despite the fire in its temporary guard house early morning Thursday.

Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias explained that the fire scene was meters away from the main building where the patients and hospital staff are located.

Banias said the fire-stricken structure was made out of wood and was already old and dilapidated.

It also used to be a doctors’ quarters before the hospital management allowed the guards to use it as their temporary billeting area, he added.

The laborers constructing the Emergency Room Complex of the hospital were also staying in the area but none of them were hurt.

Initial investigation of Dumangas Municipal Fire Station revealed the fire was due to a short circuit and the value of damages reached nearly P200,000. (PNA)
