ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. wanted the next provincial police director of Iloilo to be dependable, honest and a person of integrity.
Defensor also reiterated that the applicant for the post should be someone who could not be tamed by money or swayed by politics.
“He should be someone who can live within his means,” the governor said in Hiligaynon during his interview with the press Thursday.
Defensor bared the characteristics he preferred for the next provincial police chief following the unexpected recall of Senior Supt. Celestino Guara’s appointment.
Guara, who already paid a courtesy call on Defensor earlier this week, was supposed to serve as IPPO director in an acting capacity.
But his appointment was recalled by Regional Police Director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. for unknown reasons.
Cruz then ordered outgoing Iloilo Provincial Director Senior Supt. Gil Liben to stay put until Defensor named his successor. (Jezza A. Nepomoceno/Capitol News)
