BACOLOD CITY, June 23 (PNA) — The two-day “Mudpack Festival” which kicked off Saturday in Mambukal Mountain Resort in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town in Negros Occidental is now on its 17th year.
The symbolic celebration of man’s return to primitive time revolved on the theme “Our Climate, Our Actions, Our Future.”
A poster-making and mixed media contests, all aimed at promoting environmental conservation and protection, marked the opening of the festival.
The tribal dance and drum-beating competitions were also held to showcase Mambukal’s natural wealth.
Other highlights such as solo dance improvisation and body painting competition are set to start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Mambukal Resort celebrates the annual Mudpack Festival every third week of June.
The festival centers on the harmony of man and nature. It also features the resort’s multi-colored clay.
It also gathers visual artists from all over the province to exhibit their artistry through ethnic music, dance and crafts.
Mambukal Resort, on the other hand, is considered as one of the premier tourism destinations in Negros Occidental.
It serves as gateway to Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park and it boasts a number of hot sulfur springs. (PNA)
