BACOLOD CITY, June 7 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas is preparing its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries for possible livelihood opportunities and employment.
During their Beneficiaries Congress Friday, some 130 parent leasers from 6,000 beneficiaries of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental were oriented of the available job vacancies, both in local and abroad, by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Other speakers were from the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Unit, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and Department of Agriculture (DA).
DSWD Regional Project Management Officer Alma Estember said they exposed their beneficiaries to various job opportunities since “cash grants for Pantawid Pamilya won’t be forever.”
“This activity aims to inform them of existing programs for livelihood and employment so that after five years, when they’re not beneficiaries anymore, they already have either livelihood or have been accessed for employment,” said Estember in a statement.
Prior the conduct in Cadiz City, the same event was held in Iloilo City and Sagay City.
The DSWD-6 will also conduct next week the same congress in Jamindan and Pilar in Capiz province.
