BACOLOD CITY, June 6 (PNA) — A medical mission and jobs fair will mark the second day of the celebration of 56th Charter Day anniversary of Silay City in Negros Occidental on Friday.
Silay’s 56th charter anniversary is anchored on the theme “Pagkamadinalag-on: Bugal Sang Silaynon” (Victory: Pride of Silaynon).
The medical mission for indigents will be spearheaded by Silay City Health Office under Dr. Sabina Damaso. Consultation and medicines during the activity will come for free.
Mayor Jose Montelibano said that if Silaynons aspire to be achievers, they have to be in good health all the time.
Montelibano added that the medical mission is not just for the fiesta but rather a whole-year round activity in all the 16 barangays of Silay.
Job Fair Fiesta, on the other hand, is organized by Public Employment Service Office(PESO). It targets jobless college graduates and technical – vocational school study grant recipients.
Mariam Castandiello, OIC-PESO officer, said that her office has connection with local and national employment agencies recognized by DOLE, and has provided work to Silaynons here and abroad.
Meanwhile, the world-renowned Kabataang Silay Rondalla and the Violinistas de Silay will have their back to back performance at the covered court of Olympia Severino at 6:00 p.m.
The concert is a part of the preparation of the performing artists and ambassadors of culture of Silay who have been invited to perform in Hongkong, Singapore, Thailand and Guam.

The Silay City Hall employees also have their night wherein they will present a variety show, ‘MakisayasaSayana Masaya’.
