DOJ urged to reconsider dismissal of murder raps vs Negros Occidental officials

BACOLOD CITY, May 22 (PNA) — The family of slain Kabankalan judge Henry Arles filed on Tuesday a motion for partial reconsideration urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to include the three top government officials in Negros Occidental in the murder raps they filed last year.

Atty. Ma. Estelita “Ria” Arles said they wanted outgoing Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr, his son Vice Mayor-elect John Paul of Ilog town and Cauayan Vice Mayor Jerry Tabujara back in the case as they believed that the three played crucial roles in the murder of their father.

DOJ’s decision dated November 19, 2012, but was only made public last May 5, has cleared the three from the charges due to lack of evidence.

DOJ only recommended the filing of murder charges against co-accused Marvin Salve alias Juvy, Gerald Tabujara, Rustom Puro, Alejandro Capunong, Emmanuel Medes, Jessie Daguia and Eddie Fortunado.

The slain judge’s daughter and brother, Philip, have pledged to exhaust all legal means to bring to justice the masterminds of their father’s assassination.

She also believed that the DOJ will rule in their favor so that warrant of arrest will be issued against the concerned parties. (PNA)
