BACOLOD CITY, May 9 (PNA) — The members of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in Negros Occidental are supporting the tandem of reelectionist Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and vice gubernatorial candidate Board Member Melvin Ibanez of the United Negros Alliance (UNA).
This was confirmed by Marañon himself on Thursday after he was personally informed of final decision of INC’s church officials.
Marañon said he was told that INC believed in his platform of governance as shown in his six-year Negros First Development Agenda.
Overwhelmed by INC’s trust, Marañon vowed to repay their support with effective public service and good governance should he be reinstated.
“With the decision of the INC, basically, the game is over already,” Marañon declared with confidence.
INC, according to him, has estimated 60,000 voting members from San Carlos City down to the town of Hinobaan in Negros Occidental.
Aside from the two top candidates, INC is also supporting the candidacy of Sagay City Mayor Rafael Leo Cueva for congressman of the second district, incumbent 4th District Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer and incumbent 5th dist. Rep. Alejandro Mirasol.
They are also supporting the whole slate of the UNA in the cities of Cadiz and Silay and the towns of Manapla and EB Magalona. (PNA)
