BACOLOD CITY, May 6 (PNA) — Team PNoy senatorial candidate Juan Edgardo Angara has promised to help this city sustain its booming information and communications technology industry.
“We pledge to give full support to ICT industry,” vowed Angara during his campaign sorties here over the weekend.
Angara recognized that this city has great potentials especially for the fact that it has been known as the “next wave city” for business process outsourcing in the country.
Angara said his fellow members in Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines are seeing 15,000-20,000 jobs for the metro with its growing BPO industry.
He also stressed that city’s BPO industry must be strengthened for this can be a growth engine.
“It is the way forward to better jobs and better income,” said the lone district representative of Aurora province.
Now, Angara said the challenge is for the BPOs to find the right people for the job vacancies.
But the low acceptance rate among applicants in call centers, according to official, is manageable for it can be accelerated through proper training and education. (PNA)
