BACOLOD CITY, April 28 (PNA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will spearhead the conduct of simultaneous job fairs in two highly urbanized cities in Western Visayas in connection with the celebration of Laboy Day on May 1.
These job fairs will be held in Marymart and SM City Malls in Iloilo and SM City Mall in Bacolod City, according to DOLE-6 Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom.
Ligutom disclosed in a statement that 152 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies will join the job fairs.
Of which,94 are in Iloilo City (74 local companies and 20 overseas recruitment agencies) and 58 are in Bacolod City (47 local companies and 11 overseas recruitment agencies).
The simultaneous job fairs aim to fill the 37,377 job vacancies (4,638 for the local and 32,739 for overseas employment) in the participating local companies and overseas recruitment agencies, he said.
The number of job vacancies, however, is most likely to increase in the coming days since more and more companies are signifying their intention to join the activity, he added.
Of the top 20 in demand skills, Ligutom said customer service assistant (1,600) remained number 1 followed by sales clerk (160), salesman/marketing (150), drivers (119), cashier (107), field consultant (91), bagger (90), franchise dealer (50), accounting clerk (47), marketing assistant (38), credit investigator (36), stock clerk (33) sales utility clerk (28) and warehouseman (27), among others.
Vacancies for mechanical and civil engineer (20) and pharmacist (16) were also noted for local employment.
All jobseekers are advised to bring their detailed resume, 2 x 2 pictures, transcript of records, clearances (NBI, Police and Barangay) and Certificate/s of Employment, if any.
For overseas employment, applicants are advised to bring their passports in addition to the above-mentioned documents.
Jobseekers are also advised to bring at least five (5) sets of the aforesaid documents to enable them to apply with at least 5 companies if and when they are qualified. (PNA)
