BACOLOD CITY, April 11 (PNA) — Contestants from Cadiz City emerged champion in the Latin DanceSport Competition – Adult Category held Wednesday at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center here.
The dance sports competition is still part of the ongoing celebration of the 20th Panaad sa Negros Festival 2013.
The champions were Elmar Dizon and Shaira Hope Bocane who performed Samba, Chachacha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive together with other contestants from the participating local government units of the province.
Placing second were Jonard Pelemiano and Zoula Jean Dela Real of Himamaylan City and the third place went to Eric John Corpuz and Charity France Lidres of Silay City.
Given the consolation prizes were Paul Brian Barbosa and Gretchel Garcia of Kabankalan City, Jeremiah Gazo and Roselyn Lavadia of Bago City, and Raul Roberto Salvio II and Stephanie Lapore of Hinigaran.
Participants competed in one division only– the Grade A Latin Amateur Division.
Each dance was performed in one minute and thirty seconds during the elimination and semi-final rounds and one minute during the final round. Lifts, tail spins and high-back kicks were not allowed.
Criteria for judging included timing or movement in time with the music, basic technical competence, partnering skills, accuracy of execution and dynamic qualities, characterization of the dances and the artistic value of performance. (PNA)
