BACOLOD CITY, April 5 (PNA) — Despite the clamour for his recall, the region’s top cop finds no reason to relieve Senior Supt. Celestino Guara as acting police provincial director of Negros Occidental.
Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr said there is no proof that Guara is partisan contrary to the belief of irate Governor Alfredo Marañon.
Marañon has asked Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II to replace Guara after the assassination of police officer and civilian asset in Escalante City early this week.
He also hit Guara due to his constant failure to provide updates on the operations of NOPPO unlike his predecessors.
But Cruz said Guara has his trust and confidence still. “I have not seen any evidence yet of his partisanship,” he stressed.
Meanhile, Cruz said they will the slain PO1 Bejen Tanguan will be honoured posthumously since he fired back killing one of the triggermen.
Medalya ng Kadakilaan or the PNP Award for Bravery is expected to be given to the family of the slain cop. (PNA)
