Another wanted rebel falls in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, March 22 (PNA) – A suspected member of the New People’s Army, wanted for arson and robbery with homicide, has been arrested in Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, police officials said Friday.

Fermin Vaflor Alles, a.k.a “Junjun Alles,” fell in the joint entrapment operation of Regional Intelligence Unit led by Police Supt. William Señoron and San Carlos City Police Office.

Alles was arrested by virtue of warrant issued by Judge Katherine A. Go of the Regional Trial Court Branch 59, San Carlos City, last Jan 4, 2012.

Police Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., director of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, lauded the efforts of his men in bringing Alles to justice.

He also encouraged all police units in the region to intensify their campaign against wanted persons.

Last month, a high ranking member of NPA was also apprehended by the joint elements of the military and police in the province.

Maj. Gen. Jose Mabanta Jr., commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, identified the arrested rebel as Joel Baron Danioso, alias Ewen and Ewel.

Mabanta said Danioso acts as the commanding officer of the rebel unit known as Yunit Milisya of the North Negros Front.

Danioso, 34, was arrested in Sitio Minatipik, Barangay Winaswasan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental for the crime of robbery with homicide and physical injuries.

According to Mabanta, the arrested rebel also led the raid of their Polopangyan detachment in Barangay Bug-ang in Toboso town on August 28, 2010.

The arrest of the top NPA leader showed that the government forces are gaining grounds in its peace and security efforts, he said. (PNA)
