BACOLOD CITY, March 19 (PNA) — After his failure to deter the number of robbery incidents in downtown, Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco of Police Station 1 was relieved from his post effective Tuesday.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel ordered Francisco’s immediate relief following the foiled intrusion of unscrupulous individuals at Ahensya Bacolod early Tuesday.
Robbers also hit F&R Pawnshop and Jewelry last Saturday and the Prenda Negrense and Jewelry Store last month.
“It is better for him to rest for the meantime,” Ordaniel said, adding that Francisco will be transferred to their headquarters at Barangay Taculing without specific assignment.
Until a new chief of police is named, Francisco’s post will be taken over by his Deputy for Operations Police Senior Supt. Ruel Culanag as officer-in-charge.
Earlier, Ordaniel also relieved his Intelligence Branch Head Senior Insp. Jose Mulleta due to his failure to detect the presence of Ozamiz robbery group in the metro.
Before the F&R Pawnshop was robbed, Ordaniel disclosed he already received intelligence report from their assets that some members of Ozamiz robbery group were spotted in Dumaguete City.
The official then warned the businessmen in the metro to stay alert and instructed to report immediately suspicious looking individuals roaming around their establishments.
But when verified with Mulleta, he declared that their presence in the metro was negative until the robbery was successfully executed, Ordaniel said. Mulleta was replaced by Insp. Mark Jungco.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Evelio Leonardia insisted that the city remained safe despite the two incidents of high profile robbery.
Leonardia also ordered Ordaniel to heighten their police patrol operations to prevent the same crimes from happening.
He also underscored the importance of intense intelligence reporting and police visibility in the city’s major streets and commercial districts. (PNA)
